இந்நிலையில் ரூ.2000-க்கும் மேல் யுபிஐ முறையில் பணவரித்தனை மேற்கொண்டால் 1.1% பரிவர்த்தனை கட்டணம் வசூலிக்கப்படும் என்று NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) அறிவித்தது. இதனால் நாட்டில் உள்ள லட்சக்கணக்கான யுபிஐ பயனர்கள் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தனர். இந்த சூழலில் வணிக பயன்பாட்டுக்கான யுபிஐ பரிவர்த்தனைக்கு மட்டுமே தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதுகுறித்து என்பிசிஐ வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கையில் யுபிஐ பரிவர்த்தனை இலவசம், வேகமானது, பாதுகாப்பானது மற்றும் தடையற்றது என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளது. மேலும் வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் மற்றும் வணிகர்களுக்கு வங்கிக் கணக்கிலிருந்து கணக்கு கட்டணம் வசூலிக்கப்படும் என்று பரிவர்த்தனைகளுக்கான யுபிஐ பரிவர்த்தனை தொடர்ந்து இலவசமாக இருக்கும் என்று விளக்கம் அளித்துள்ளது. அதாவது, வங்கிக் கணக்கிற்குப் பணத்தை மாற்ற UPIஐப் பயன்படுத்தினால், கட்டணம் வசூலிக்கப்படாது.
